1) Foundations of Human Factors for Interaction design (IxD)- Concept of Human Factors- Nature of mind, body and behavior- Mind, body and behavior and its relation to design- New Trends in Design and Cognition in IxD: Embodied, Embedded, Extended and Enactive Cognition- Systems-orientation of Human Factors and its relation to design 2) Unravelling the mind – introduction- Sensation and Perception- Cognition, Memory and Emotion- Thinking and Problem Solving- Attention and Decision making- Multi-sensory Integration 3) Implications and Applications for IxD a) Human Factors issues at the Micro-level- Interaction with Display (e.g. desktops, mobiles)- Data Visualization- Control applications/ Design for input and control- Task-analysis/Work-analysis techniques b) Human Factors issues at the Meso-level- Interactions with VR and AR- Issues of Body and Space in IxD c) Human Factors issues at the Macro-level- Human Factors in Services and Systems.

About Instructor

Prof. Ray G.G.

Professor at IDC, IIT Bombay, and Honorary Professor at the School of Biomedical Engineering, IIT Bombay, specializing in Ergonomics and Work Physiology. With a Ph.D. in Physiology, his expertise spans product ergonomics, workstation design, and musculoskeletal disorders. He has received prestigious awards, including the UNDP Fellowship and the Prof. J.N. Maitra Memorial Gold Medal. A visiting faculty at institutions worldwide, he has led major consultancy projects with top organizations. His research includes numerous publications in international journals and presentations at global conferences.
