• Introduction to the concept of ergonomics in design• Analysis of MME system design, How to assess the interface design, Design methodology• Body dimensions and is application in design• Dimensional optimization for the population and use of percentile• The musculo-skeletal system and joint motion study, Human body follows the principle of lever• Basic model on calculation of biomechanical stresses on our body• Design for the physically challenged• Mini Project work involving Ergonomic design research for product system.

Prof. Sadhu N.
Prof.  Sadhu N teaches Innovation by Design at the Industrial Design Centre (IDC), IIT Bombay. He has set up the Shenoy Innovation Studio at IITB, where students and young designers are given the opportunity to work on live projects and benefit from expertise in a range of interrelated fields. Prof. Chakravarthy works closely with other academics engaged in cutting-edge research at IIT Bombay and has played a key role in translating such research into products that reach the hands of users. ‘A Collaborative Model for New Product Innovation’, an outcome of Prof. Chakravarthy’s doctoral research, has had wide application in the industry. Prof. Chakravarthy has also worked frequently with government departments and occupational communities engaged in essential services.

Prof. Ray G.G.
Professor at IDC, IIT Bombay, and Honorary Professor at the School of Biomedical Engineering, IIT Bombay, specializing in Ergonomics and Work Physiology. With a Ph.D. in Physiology, his expertise spans product ergonomics, workstation design, and musculoskeletal disorders. He has received prestigious awards, including the UNDP Fellowship and the Prof. J.N. Maitra Memorial Gold Medal. A visiting faculty at institutions worldwide, he has led major consultancy projects with top organizations. His research includes numerous publications in international journals and presentations at global conferences.
